BACC Infrastructure Reports
Our Feasibility Studies and Intervention Reports are at the heart of how BACC is influencing Somerset Council (and developers). The aim is to develop new infrastructure and change the existing routes, so that they’re well-designed and safe for cycling and walking. This is by no means an easy feat; however, these documents are attempting to work alongside the designers and particularly the Highways Authority to truly bring them into alignment with the latest government guidance: ‘Local Transport Note LTN 1/20’.
The drive by the government to embed those design standards and set the bar far higher to transforming our towns and cities can be found in the original ‘Gear Change’ document, a bold vision for cycling and walking.
The Feasibility Studies and Invention Reports are major tools created by the BACC Audit Team to demonstrate clearly what is required in the creation of safe and well-designed cycling routes. We used our many years of cycling experience and our passion to ensure that all new infrastructure meets the safety and design criteria laid out in Cycle Infrastructure Design standards LTN 1/20.
