Do you care about the future direction of our town?
Are you committed to tackling climate change?
Are you interested in improving people’s mental and physical wellbeing?
If you answered ‘yes’ to these questions, you could be just who we are looking for!
BACC has been going over five years now, and in that time we’ve celebrated some huge achievements: two Kidical Mass rides, auditing the entire town’s cycle infrastructure, successfully petitioning on speed limits… We are really gaining traction with the local press and in the public eye, which means we have the power to influence leaders and their policies. So this is an exciting time.
And our little group is ready to enter its next phase. In 2024, we are looking to recruit new volunteers who care deeply about the issues facing Bridgwater in terms of climate, health and active travel (Why Does It Matter?). We want to make a positive difference to everyone who lives here, and for future generations, too.
We’re on the lookout for anyone who might be interested in helping our cause, and ultimately one or two people who could lead the group. This isn’t necessarily as daunting as it might sound — whether you get involved on a very casual basis, or you want to step into a leadership role, you can be assured of a very warm welcome, and the role you choose is very much open to your own interpretation.
The future of BACC will certainly feature some of the things we’ve already started — monitoring planning developments, liaising with local authorities and running Kidical Mass rides. But maybe you’ve got some ideas about other ways in which we can make a difference?
However you choose to get involved, you can be assured of a big sense of achievement and fulfilment, knowing you’re having a positive impact on the future of our local community.
