Bridgwater’s second annual Active Travel Day has just been announced for Saturday 20th May. After the success of last year’s inaugural event, we are excited to be organising what looks set to be an even better day this year.
The Active Travel Day is about coming together to overcome the obstacles that hold some of us back from leaving the car at home a bit more often – it’s a chance for people to explore ways they can get more active on foot and by bike. There will be over twenty organisations there, including local bike retailers, Sustrans, PCSOs and public transport advocates.
There will be free Dr Bike sessions, where you can get your bike tuned up and roadworthy. According to Cycling UK, “The majority of bike ailments can be fixed on the spot, meaning you can attend these events in the knowledge you’ll probably be able to ride away on a bike that feels as good as new.”
And there will be bike-related giveaways, and a presentation of the ambitious Celebration Mile project and what it means for the town centre.
