With the recent tragic news, BACC felt it was important to highlight that a hypothetical Westonzoyland to Bridgwater link is still being worked on, although at a very early stage. By working with the solar farm, it is hoped that the alternative route for cyclists will cross NCN route 3.
One possibility being explored is to place an off-road cycling track within the southern farm section. Without more detailed knowledge of the position of the rhynes, the route shown in red on the map would be the most direct and effective way to link Bullhorn Drove and River Lane. However, there may be other options within or skirting this area that are more feasible on the survey.
If there were some way of improving the safety of the staggered junction between Ruggs Drove, the A372, and River Lane, perhaps through co-operation with Sedgemoor District Council and Somerset County Council as part of their focus in improving the safety of the A372, then this would allow cyclists and other traffic to enter or leave Ruggs Drove more safely.
Discussions are at a very early stage and will keep you informed of any updates.
